The Republic of Somaliland Mission in Kenya

The chairman of the Somaliland National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Authority (NADFOR) Mr Faisal Ali Sheikh on Tuesday led a delegation from Somaliland for discussions with representatives of European donor countries on the drought situation in the country at the Somaliland Representative office in Kenya.

The NADFOR chairman appraised the donor community on the current situation in Somaliland and the horn of Africa which has been hit by the worst drought in four decades.

Present in the meeting was the Somaliland envoy to Kenya Amb. Dr Mohamed Mohamoud who thanked the donor team for their continued support of Somaliland.

Key in the discussions was on how to mitigate the drought situation in Somaliland and humanitarian assistance from the international community.

Among the delegation from the donor community were Mathia Kjoer from Danish aid agency – DANIDA in Somaliland, Martin Stea-the head of humanitarian Germany, Marianne Vestergaard- Head of humanitarian Denmark, Nick Hutchings- Humanitarian advisor FCDO.

The Somaliland National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Authority (NADFOR) was established in 2003, but legally passed in June 2007 through parliament, house of elders and signed by the President.
