Kenya appoints Representative to Hargeisa

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Ambassador Benson Mwaliko as the new Representative to Hargeisa, the capital of the Republic of Somaliland.

A statement from State House Nairobi on Friday, April 22, 2022 indicated Mwaliko was among several other new appointments done by President Kenyatta.

Mwaliko who takes up his job immediately was among a delegation of four officials who were sent by the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a fact finding mission to set up a consul.

The appointment of a Representative to Somaliland by the Kenya government was part of the agreement between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Somaliland President Muse Bihi when the latter visited Kenya in December 2020.
